Trade policy and human development

High rates of economic growth and increase in the real per capita income is not enough to improve people’s welfare. Improvement of other indicators of human development, in particular, access to basic health services and education, poverty rate, income distribution are also crucial aspects. In Uzbekistan, foreign trade has become one of the main channels of the impact of global financial crisis.

To what extent does trade policy influence on human development in Uzbekistan? Is there any direct relationship? What main directions of trade policy should be given particular attention to improve the indicators of human development?
