Development Focus #3: Family Assets Mobilization 2009

CER presents a new edition of "Development Focus" one-pager on "Family Assets Mobilization 2009" project. The project represents the second round of FAM survey. The first round conducted in 2004 addressed the issue of transforming the ‘idle’ capital of households into productive investment. FAM 2009 will look into changes which occurred since 2004 and address some new dimensions such as (i) expanding opportunities and strengthening capacities of businesses to explore and access new markets, expand employment and invest in human capital; (ii) creating an enabling environment for geographical, occupational and social mobility of individuals and households.

The survey will be conducted in all regions of the country. It will cover 3,000 households based on representative random sampling and entail 2,500 interviews with individuals to ensure the representativeness of the study at the national level. It is also envisaged to interview 1,000 entrepreneurs, and conduct 70 in-depth interviews and 15 focus group discussions to get an assessment of the impact of existing institutions on social and economic mobility.
