Reception of a delegation the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) in the CER

On February 9, 2017, the director of CER met with OECD delegation comprising Pretet Arnault - project coordinator and economist-analyst - Sebastian Kupfershmid. The meeting was held within the project "Investment and Competitiveness in Central Asia - focus on Uzbekistan," for the preparation of the peer review on export policy to stimulate SMEs (small and medium enterprises) in Uzbekistan.

Pretet Arnault said that on the results of a series of meetings with the relevant local and international organizations in Uzbekistan, the proposals and recommendations will be developed, which will be present to the public for discussion at the "Week of the OECD Eurasia 2017" in Almaty, Kazakhstan. 

He also noted that the joint report of the Government of Uzbekistan and the OECD project "Investment and Competitiveness in Central Asia - focus on Uzbekistan" will be released in March 2017 after which it will be sent to the CER for comments and suggestions.

Following the meeting, the parties decided to identify and highlight the main areas for collaborative research between the OECD and the CER; further develop mutual cooperation in research activities.
