Meeting with the representatives of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) in CER

On July 13, 2017 at the Center for Economic Research (CER), the meeting of CER staff with representative from the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) was held.

From the Center for Economic Research the meeting was attended by Tskhay Lana - Chief Researcher, Jahangirov Rustam - Leading Researcher, Asadov Anvar - Head of External Relations Department.

The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) was represented by Vasilyev Anton Yuryevich - project manager of BCG and Mladik Evgeniy Semenovich - international consultant.

During the meeting, issues of small and medium business development in the Republic of Uzbekistan were discussed, current features of social and economic developments were explained, key issues of infrastructure and logistical modernization of the country were considered.

Representatives of BCG noted that the economy of Uzbekistan has the full potential for increasing its economic presence in the international trade and investment system. The country, from year to year, is increasing its export potential, while gradually changing the structure of deliveries to foreign markets from the raw materials to high-tech finished products with high added value. Measures taken by the government to improve the investment climate could significantly increase the interest of international investors in the economy of Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the bilateral meeting, the topics of monetary and fiscal policy were also covered; positive trends in the development of the banking sector, the development issues of the fruit and vegetable sector were highlighted. The parties discussed measures to enhance the development indicators of the national economy of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

Following the meeting, the representatives of the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) and the Center for Economic Research (CER) agreed on further research cooperation.
