Working meeting with the director of The Institute for Scientific Research on Economic Reforms under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan

On August 2, 2017, at The Center for Economic Research, the Director of CER, Sh. Nazarov met V. Valiev, the Director of The Institute for Scientific Research on Economic Reforms (ISRER) under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan.

On the part of the Center for Economic Research the participants of the meeting were: Nazarov Sharofiddin - Director of CER, Muradova Khusniya - Senior Research Coordinator, Asadov Anvar - Head of External Relations Department.

The Institute for Scientific Research on Economic Reforms (ISRER) under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan was represented by Valiyev Vilayat - Director of The Institute. Gaibullaev Orzumurod - Task Manager of the UNDP Project and Kamilov Odiljon - Head of the Department at Tashkent Financial Institute were also invited to the meeting.

During the meeting, general issues of the theory and methodology for developing the indicators of the intersectoral balance, modeling the foreign trade policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan within the framework of the multiregional trade space, the main stages of econometric modeling, as well as other key issues of the country's development were discussed.

At the meeting it was also noted that by now a favorable macroeconomic climate has been created in the country. Owing to economic reforms based on country’s own model of transition to market relations, the republic was able to stabilize the macroeconomic and financial situations and to achieve the lowest drop in production among the CIS countries. 

At the bilateral meeting the issues of monetary and fiscal policy, the specifics and effectiveness of these policies were also covered, positive trends in the development of the banking sector were highlighted, priority areas for liberalization of monetary policy, as well as the development of individual industries and the creation of free economic zones for Territory of the Republic of Uzbekistan were considered.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed on collaboration and cooperation in scientific and research activities between The Institute for Scientific Research on Economic Reforms (ISRER) under the Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and The Center for Economic Research.
