CER experts calculated the National Business Perception Index (NBP Index) for the 1st quarter of 2010

CER experts calculated the National Business Perception Index (NBP Index) for the 1st quarter of 2010 (January - March), which is positive and equals to 12.0.

This figure means that a share of the active part of the business (with positive results comparing to previous quarter) exceeds the passive part (with negative results) for exactly 12 percent. NBP Index is declining during the last three quarters: from 19.1 in the third quarter of 2009 to 12.0 in the first quarter of 2010. Despite this decline, the NBP Index remains positive, reflecting a steady increase in business activity.

In addition, the report presents the NBP Index in the context of economic sectors, separate indicators, such as sales, profit, employment, salary, export / import, etc., as well as the NBP Index in each region.

In April-June 2010 business is aimed more optimistically: expected NBP Index is 21.9 which is 9.9 point higher than the NBP index for the current quarter.

The NBP Index is calculated on the base of a survey of 420 enterprises from all 14 regions of Uzbekistan and covers 5 main sectors of economy – industry, agriculture, construction, transport and communications, trade.
