National Business Perception Index of the IV quarter of 2010 equals to 25.8.

National Business Perception Index  of the IV quarter of 2010  equals to 25.8.

In the IV quarter business in Uzbekistan continued to show high activity: a share of the active part of the business (with positive results comparing to previous quarter) exceeds the passive part (with negative results) for 25.8 percent. Current NBP Index is 1.9 percentage points lower compare with the BPI index of the III quarter of 2010 (27.7).

Enterprises show high business activity on turnover (53.1), profit (46.2), demand (40.4), employment (31.9) and salary (37.7). All sectors of economy show high positive business activities (industry – 25.7, agriculture – 24.0, construction – 31.4, transport and communication – 24.6, trade and catering – 23.7).

In the first quarter of 2011 business is aimed more optimistically: expected NBP Index is 31.5 which is 5.7 points higher than the NBP index for the current quarter. NBP Index is a joint initiative of CER and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan aimed at elaborating a toolkit for assessment and short-term forecasting of business activity dynamics. The NBP Index is calculated on the base of a survey of 552 enterprises from all 14 regions of Uzbekistan and covers 5 main sectors of economy – industry, agriculture, construction, transport and communications, trade.
