The System of Social Services Commissioning in Uzbekistan
Research areas: Governance and Development
Duration: June 2011 - March 2012
More than 5300 NGOs work in various areas in Uzbekistan, addressing socio-economic, educational, ecological and other issues. Realization of the “Concept of further deepening of democratic reforms and civil society development in Uzbekistan” places the emphasis on further improvement of social partnership mechanisms between the state and the third sector, including tools of financial support to NGOs’ activity.
To date, state financial support to NGOs is provided in form of grants, subsidies, and social order. However, it seems necessary to improve procedures and tools of allocation, realization, and monitoring of the social ordering in Uzbekistan, taking into consideration best international practices, as well as strategic priorities of the civil society development in Uzbekistan.
The research project aims at developing recommendations on enhancing the role and importance of the state social orders, as well as increasing amount and volume of financing the orders from public and private sources.
