The project represents the second round of FAM survey. The first round conducted in 2003-2004 addressed the issue of transforming the ‘idle’ capital of households into productive investment.

The 2010 research framework had broader objectives beyond the assessment of tangible assets and covering intangible ones - human and social capital. The research also aimed to define social stratification and mobility in contemporary Uzbek society.

The results of the sociological survey FAM (2010) conducted within the project framework covering 3,000 households and 1,000 businesspersons allowed to conclude the following:

1. Size and dynamics of assets, and cost of their mobilization;

2. Patterns of consumption, saving and investment;

3. Creating the middle class and mobility channels.
